Xi “Jake” Wang is a Los Angeles–based media artist and filmmaker and an active member of the Visual Effects Society (VES). With a professional background spanning visual effects, animation, digital art, and immersive media, he brings a multidisciplinary perspective to storytelling and visual design.
He currently serves as Head of Production at Utopai Studio, leading global multi-production teams to create generative-AI–driven content for film and television, shaping both the creative vision and the production pipeline.
Earlier in his career, he worked at leading VFX studios such as Digital Domain, contributing to visualization, world-building, and cinematic sequences for several high-profile, big-budget productions, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dune: Part Two, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The Last of Us, and The Electric State.
Beyond studio work, Wang has led independent projects in VR, AR, and projection mapping, with showcases and recognition at renowned events and international film festivals including SIGGRAPH, the Telluride Film Festival, LA Shorts International Film Festival, and the Odense International Film Festival, among others.
